3 More Examples of Fluid System Assemblies Built Here in Our Edmonton Shop

If you can describe what you need an assembly to do, we can build something to do it. That includes whole gas distribution systems, ready-to-install analytical subsystems, grab sampling systems, and more.

In a previous post we discussed how relatively simple custom solutions, like hose assemblies, bent tubing, and regulator assemblies, may take a few days to turn around. Now we are looking at solutions that take a few weeks to turn around, but offer maximum flexibility to solve any fluid system challenge.

Local, purpose-built team

Our Custom Solutions team includes Swagelok-certified fluid system design experts, welders, and assembly technicians — many with decades of experience and hundreds of custom solutions under their belt. These specialists earn certification by completing hundreds of training hours with internationally renowned experts and passing dozens of exams.

Complete solutions

Our certified experts consider materials compatibility, temperatures, pressures, and many other factors. Our team conducts a thorough needs analysis, works collaboratively with you and your team to identify options, and delivers CAD/sales drawings for safe, streamlined assemblies.

Beyond providing a technically optimal solution, we want to fully understand your situation. Short deadline? Tight space? Budget pressure? We strive to meet all your needs during this collaborative process. (Scroll down this article for a video about Swagelok problem-solving for the company Hoerbiger.)

We can fabricate just about anything that has fluid system components on it. Fabrication, assembly, and testing are handled by Swagelok-certified technicians who have undergone extensive training to ensure consistent precision fabrication and assembly.

Example 1. Analytical Subsystems

Fluid Distribution Header example

Swagelok has developed standardized yet highly configurable designs for assemblies that meet common analytical instrumentation needs. We offer fast loop modules, field station modules, calibration and switching modules, and other options. An example Fluid Distribution Header is shown here. Used as versatile manifolds in gas and liquid applications, the module provides a flow path with multiple outlets, similar to a large branch fitting. Inlet on one end, drain on the other, and multiple outlets.

Example 2. Gas Distribution Assemblies

Changeover Module example

Swagelok offers standardized yet highly configurable panels and other elements of gas distribution systems. Assemblies arrive fully built, tested, documented, and ready to install. An example of a Swagelok Changeover (SCO) assembly is shown here. With staggered set points on two pressure regulators, the automatic changeover system switches between sources without interrupting supply.

Example 3. Grab Sampling Assemblies

GSL6-Fixed-Volume example

Swagelok now offers standardized designs for grab sampling assemblies. Built for safe, efficient sample capture, each is available in a wide variety of configurations, with or without advanced features. We design, fabricate, and test your module so it arrives ready to install. An example of a Grab Sample Liquid (GSL) module is shown here. It is a liquid-only sampling system for drawing fluid into a non-pressure containing bottle, designed for drawing and transporting without the risk of spillage or evaporation.

Testing capabilities

Every assembly undergoes at least pressure testing before leaving our shop. We can leak test with hydro, pneumatic, and helium leak test equipment. We offer tighter testing tolerances than traditional leak tests — testing down to 1x10-6. This capability is especially important to process analyzer specialists or anyone overseeing a very hazardous gas or application. Because we handle the processes in-house, we have flexibility when it comes to modifying valves, doing repairs, and the like. We can even take a unit into the field for testing.
