Snoop Leak Detector

Snoop is so popular as a leak detector that in some places the world it is used as a verb: "You'd better Snoop that fitting." The name is so familiar that some people don't even realize Swagelok makes it.

Snoop is made of deionized water and a surfactant, which makes it sound a lot like soapy water. It's actually much better. Soapy water might work if you have a large air leak or something with significant velocity.

"But if you are looking to find the very small leaks, this is the stuff you want to go with," says Chris Horne, one of our account managers. "It's amazing. You could be looking at a piece of tubing, you can't hear anything, you can't see anything, but this stuff will find it."

The Snoop formula dries clean without staining, and contains a corrosion inhibitor.

It works across a wide range of temperatures, –2°C  to 93°C. For Alberta winters, we also have Real Cool Snoop, which works where ordinary leak detectors would freeze. Real Cool Snoop is good down to –54°C, even on very small leaks and vertical surfaces.

To help you get into hard-to-reach places, we'll include a flexible Snooper Tube.

SWAK and PTFE Tape Pipe Thread Sealant

Our SWAK pipe thread sealant cures to a bond that resists vibration and shock, yet it allows for low breakaway torque that makes it easy to break connections even after it's fully cured. If you don't want to use PTFE tape as a pipe thread sealant, SWAK is the way to go.

"The difference between pipe dope and pipe tape is often a case of personal preference," Horne says. "They both have very similar temperature ratings and applications, and can provide a reliable seal."

There are some fluids and materials that are not compatible with Swak, however.

Please contact your Swagelok representative to provide additional information on Thread Sealants.

Goop

Our Goop thread lubricants ease assembly of leak-tight connections for a variety of metals and alloys. Oil-based Silver Goop is the right choice for use on stainless steel and high-temperature alloys. Blue Goop is also oil based, and can be used on stainless steel, steel, titanium, aluminum, and nickel-based alloys. It contains PTFE and resists water washout.

Our third version is halocarbon-based Pure Goop, good for use on titanium, stainless steel, steel, and nickel-based alloys, but not on aluminum or magnesium threads.

Finally, there's Vac Goop, a Fluorosilicone-based thread lubricant for use on threads, O‑rings, gaskets, glass seals, and metal parts in vacuum systems.
