And they are highly connected—working virtually in teams to address customer applications wherever their engineering expertise is needed.

Local specialists, Global reach

Edmonton Valve's Tom Webster is a Field Service Technologist delivering Field Advisory Services here in our region of Alberta. He attended Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) and graduated with a diploma in Petroleum Engineering Technology.

Prior to joining Edmonton Valve, Tom gained experience as a Process Operator, which helped him understand how the day to day facility operations are carried out.

"Working with rotating equipment/instrumentation and process staff at a midstream facility gave me a solid foundation. At Edmonton Valve & Fitting everyone is aware of the steep learning curve in regards to our product line and customer applications, so having that facility experience was a great advantage to accelerate my training and allowing me to help our customers quicker."

If you are a customer, you might find there a lot of terms to keep straight. So let’s clarify what a team member like Tom does and for whom.

“Swagelok employs a team of engineers throughout the world as an extension of our headquarters in Solon, Ohio,” Tom explains. “Their mission is to be the technical liaison and advocate between the customer, our distributor network, and the factory by providing an extension of Swagelok engineering resources. Their primary focus is to provide technical expertise through a sound understanding of our customer’s applications.”
