Our Hose Advisory Service Can Reduce Grief and Increase Productivity
by Luke Wurban on Fri, Jun 19, 2020 @ 14:06 PM
When a hose fails unexpectedly, it can bring down your whole production line
How critical is hose protection and maintenance? One failed hose can mean thousands of dollars of lost product, lost productivity, and unsafe work conditions for employees.
A failed hose can really ruin your day. When you already face a lot of pressure to cut costs and keep systems working longer with fewer resources, one hose can sabotage all your efforts.
"When a hose fails, and they didn't plan on that hose failing, it'll bring down their whole entire system. In some cases, their whole entire production line," says Nick Iverson, a Swagelok Field Engineer. A hose failure can be a safety issue too, especially if steam or caustic fluids get on workers and machinery.
All of that adds up to unplanned and unwanted expenses.
Our hose team can help
Bring your hose problems under control by bringing in our hose advisory specialists. They start by working with you to figure out what your goals are. Maybe you've seen maintenance costs climb and you want to figure out how to increase the service life of your hoses. Or maybe certain hoses are frequently failing and you haven't been able to pinpoint the underlying cause.
Our hose advisory specialists know what to look for. The issue might be kinking, or selecting the wrong hose for the job, or chemical compatibility issues. Maybe the hose is not laid out in the right plane. Maybe the end connection is not able to hold a bend on the radius. Maybe the materials in the hose are susceptible to electrostatic discharge. Even something as simple as the length of the hose can make a big difference.
Sometimes the answer is obvious to the trained eye. But if not, our advisors put on their detective hats and ask a lot of questions that get to the root cause.
Results you can act on
Once our specialists identify which hoses are at risk of premature failure, we can set up a preventive maintenance cycle for you. We'll provide a list of best practices and potential improvements you can make.
That way you can take care of a hose before it becomes a problem.
Swagelok has a very broad product line, so you never have to worry about being steered toward a single hose product. We have very well trained advisors who understand which hoses work best in which application. You can have a lot of confidence that we will work hard to suggest the optimal hose for your needs.
We have a four-minute video that discusses all these issues and shows some members of our hose advisory service in action. As the video demonstrates, the right hose helps you increase system reliability, which increases uptime, which increases productivity.
