About the technical briefing

Learn about industrial oxygen applications, hazards, material selection considerations, cleanliness requirements, and relevant regulatory standards. Dr. Robert Bianco steps through possible ignition mechanisms such as adiabatic compression, particle impact, and flow friction as he analyzes photos of a damaged stainless steel 40G Series ball valve (2500 psig oxygen), a damaged stainless steel tee, and a damaged stainless steel rising plug valve.

Presenter Photo_Robert_BiancoRobert Bianco, Ph.D., is Swagelok's Senior Materials Scientist and technical lead for Swagelok’s Additive Manufacturing Program. He offers expertise in additive manufacturing, process metallurgy, high-temperature structural materials, materials characterization, failure analyses/investigations, and surface modifications. In the course of his career he has developed state-of-the-art materials for the Aerospace industry, and has authored or co-authored 16 US and world-wide patents. He holds a Ph.D. in Metallurgical Engineering from Ohio State University and an Engineering and Technology Management Certificate from Caltech.
