Problem

Leaks and leak testing. Preventing corrosion. Ensuring sample accuracy. For technicians and engineers, these issues represent a stream of operational headaches. But that's not all...

  • Could we use less energy but keep quality high?
  • How can we do less maintenance but keep quality high?
  • Are any components installed wrong? Is it a safety issue?
  • How do we deal with this mixer/pump acting up?
  • Could we make hoses last longer?
  • Are the right materials selected to prevent corrosion?
  • Do we have leaks? How major/minor is each one?
  • Do our samples reflect actual process conditions?

Some operators don't have time to react to every little operational error, much less go looking for them. So they may not be aware of operational issues. There are just so many competing demands.

“In less than two weeks they came up with a whole solution. And in the last five years I have had no more leaks in the system. That's the sort of capability and specialty that Swagelok provides, and no one else can." —Tan Ha, Master Technologist, HP Labs

One thing is for sure: Our customers are essential businesses, and that means reliability is essential. With crews slimmed down to facilitate healthy distancing, every hour of maintenance matters. With shifts in the economy, every dollar counts. With record-breaking summer and winter temperatures becoming our new normal, preparedness is crucial. And now, on top of all the other issues, maybe visitors are limited too.

Our technicians can help you diagnose and address just about any fluid system challenge. They have worked with hundreds of companies like yours in and around Edmonton.

Now with RealWear headsets (optional)

When a Swagelok-certified technician comes onsite, you can opt for him or her to wear a special headset. It's your choice. If you choose to have us use the headsets, you get not only Swagelok experts with you onsite, but also virtual access to Swagelok global expertise, enhanced documentation, and other benefits.

FAQs

Q: Have companies like mine used this service?

A: Yes, hundreds. For example, in May 2020 our field engineers helped a Grand Prairie, Alberta natural gas processing facility resolve operational issues. In another case, at an INEOS petrochemical facility, Swagelok field engineers’ application expertise enhanced safety. Another customer, a manufacturer in the semiconductor industry, saved big by having our engineers optimize their chiller box design. At another manufacturer, our field engineers devised a way to stop backward hose installation, slashing rework. At a major utility company, Swagelok field engineers helped shrink panels so they fit into a new fleet of mobile lab vans. These are just five examples out of dozens we can offer. Please let us know if you would like details on our work with companies like yours.

Resources_Video_Customer_Praxair

"Swagelok is basically an industry standard. It's rated by our customers as the best solution that we can provide," says Praxair Specialty Gases Manager Marcos Porto, Specialty Gases Manager, Praxair

Q: What do we receive?

A: Written findings and recommendations delivered in a detailed report, usually with photos, savings calculations, suggested top priority action items, and best practices guidance. You may also receive CAD file, database file, physical tags on components in your facility. Onsite discussion or video session with one or more field engineers. You have as much discussion time as you need to thoroughly understanding all findings.

Q: Does using this service require close social contact?

A: No. It depends on your needs and conditions on the ground. For example, want us to uncover hidden issues/costs in a fluid system? That usually requires physical or virtual onsite. Want us to help resolve a specific problem? Sometimes that requires onsite, sometimes doesn’t. Want us to check your plan or design (materials selection, components selection, assembly process…)? Usually that doesn’t require onsite.

Reports

Your field service technician structures your onsite visit, report and consultation to exactly meet your needs. They are trained to listen and to understand the whole problem, including your pressures and constraints. And they are trained to bring you a complete solution.

The recommendations we provide take into account safety, emissions, quality of output, maintenance requirements, and overall cost of ownership.

Reports are packed with details and guidance. We provide closeup photos and measurements along with information on best practices for addressing each type of issue. We also grade issues to let you know which are, in our view, highest priority. For help, call our 24x7 Field Advisory Services On-Call Technical Support at 780-237-7109.

We discuss our findings and recommendations with you. You get as much time as you need to thoroughly understand the findings.

"Reports generally include an assessment overall of the stations or of the analytical system. We will do a review of the findings: 'What is really there? What exists today?' We look at safety, environmental quality, functionality. We aim to grade them on a scale, often from 1 to 5 (where 1 means 'it's excellent' and 5 means 'it needs immediate replacement'). We can also provide a piping and instrumentation diagram of the existing system along with the P&ID that we recommend you implement to get better results."
