Hydrogen embrittlement is a risk with some metals, specifically hardened Belleville springs and stems. In Swagelok's hydrogen-compatible products such metals have been replaced with materials that resist embrittlement. Likewise, hydrogen degradation is a risk with some elastomers. Those elastomers have been replaced with more resilient materials.

The guide lists products that are hydrogen-compatible products for applications up to 1 378 bar (20 000 psig). They include:
